Every year this happens . In one market or another there is always one gift which outsells all others and according to a recent customer poll, ecigworld.co.uk strongly believe that 2010 could be the year for the e-cig »¿ .

At only £30 for a NUCIG Advanced Pro 2 USB Starter Kit it is not difficult to see why this could be a very good and yet very cost effective gift for a smoker this year.

Month on month Ecigworld are selling more and more electronic cigarettes and being accredited to sell a range of brands like NUCIG shows their dedication to the industry. In my opinion I’d encourage anyone who already smokes to at least consider e-smoking as an alternative to an addiction which is proven to carry a very high danger of disease (a 50/50 chance of it killing you, basically). The cost of e-smoking is noticeably less too but even if it did cost the same as normal smoking, it’s very probable that, in my opinion, it’s going to vastly reduce the danger to the user and those around them, and that’s got to be a good thing.

For those that don’t know an electronic cigarette or ‘e-cigarette’ is an alternative to smoked tobacco products, such as cigarettes, cigars, or pipes. It is a battery-powered item that provides inhaled doses of nicotine by delivering a vaporized nicotine solution. Whilst there is no current medical evidence that electronic cigarettes can be used as a smoking cessation device , customers regularaly call Ecigworld after purchasing to very proudly boast how many traditional tobacco cigarettes they no longer smoke.

In Summer 2009 the FDA in America tried to ban the import in the US stating that the items were unsafe and hazardous to your health & well being .

However, a simple Google search quickly reveals the gaping holes in the FDA report  and shows a blatant amount of bias towards both pharmaceutical and tobacco companies – both outspoken adversaries of electronic cigarettes which is mainly due to the amount of money they will lose when electronic cigarettes take over from hazardous tobacco cigarettes and other smoking cessation devices like Nicorette which has a comparatively very low success rate.

According to a recent medical study in South Africa, 45% of smokers using the electronic cigarette were able to totally quit tobacco within two months of changing to the innovative new product, compared to 5% of Nicorette Gum users .

Of course, what counts is whether smokers can give up smoking for the long term. However, the results remain extremely encouraging .

The survey results found:
• 6% of smokers ceased using tobacco within two weeks
• 45% of smokers ceased using tobacco within two months
• more than half reported improved energy levels and an improvement in their overall appearance.

All of the doctors involved in the study felt that the electronic cigarette could be an aid to overcoming all physical and psychological effects of smoking, with one doctor adding that:

“an electronic cigarette is the most effective treatment method on the market for quitting tobacco smoking”.

But whilst this study is not alone in its results it will take a lot more to beat off the bottomless pockets of the tobacco and pharmaceutical giants and this study alone does not prove that e-cigarettes are safe and should be used for quitting smoking .

But they’ve got to be better than cigarettes surely?

What Ireally love about Pilates is that, just about all of us can do it. You can teach, elderly people or elite sports people, you can treat osteoporosis or serious injuries, there are just so many things you can do with it. Pilates is not jarring to joints and because it focuses on deep, coordinated breathing and slow precise movements it is suitable for everyone. Pilates is one of only a few types of exercise that is shown to be energizing, no matter your level of fitness,state of health or age .

Pilates is among the fastest growing modes of exercise in the world. In the United States alone, the numbers of people practising it has grown from 1.7 million in 2000 to 14.6 million in 2010 – more than 700% growth in nearly ten years!

Pilates is a refreshing mind-body type of exercise , which focuses on core stability and posture, aiming to lengthen and strengthen muscles. The exercises are performed in a very slow and controlled fashion it has similarities to yoga as it incorporates relaxation and breathing techniques. The fundamentals of this exercise method includes control, concentration , proper alignment, centering , breathing, precision and flowing movement. The great beauty about pilates is that it can be individualized to match any fitness level .

The primary emphasis of Pilates is on the “powerhouse” areaof the body includes the muscles of the lower back and the abdominals . Because of its focus, pilates has become really popular not only in the field of fitness, but also it is widley used in rehabilitation . Pilates is well known as a positive type of movement-based exercise that genuinely can be tailored to any level of not just fitness, but also of health .

Through a series of breathing, stretching , and muscle toning techniques, Pilates will increase the body’s muscle tone, balance and flexibility . Pilates is now practiced by many elite athletes across a wide range of sports and yes , Pilates is for men as well as women.

 

Pilates is best taught by a fully Trained Instructor, often in a Pilates Studio. This is the recommended way to learn to carry out the exercises correctly if you are new to pilates . Because it is such a different type of exercise than many of us are used with . Being taught properly by a fully qualified Pilates Teacher is crucial. subsequently, when the basics are learned, a great option is to join a class.

 

In a pilates class you will be joining in and working in with other people, sometimes just 5 or 6 and in a really large pilates studio, there can be up to 30 people working alongside you. Most pilates group classes will expect that you have had some personal instructor pilates training before you join a class.

 

The great thing is though , that once you have learned the basic exercises , you are completely free to mix some classes along with with some work outs at home as well. This keeps your costs down and allows you lots of flexibility in where and when you work out.

There are now 100′s of Video’s and DVD’s on-line. Also lots of quite inexpensive equipment you can buy for use at home . Pilates isn’t always something you always do in a pilates studio, but do please take the time to learn the basic exercises from a professional Trainer first .

I Love To Sing! But Stage Fright Stops Me

It’s every vocalist’s worst nightmare.. Let’s just say you get all prepared to go on stage to daze your audience. But just for a instant, you forget the words or if you get too nervous to make a good sound? Have you ever experienced stage fright like this.. Are you wondering if there is anything you can do about it? If so, and if you are ready to free yourself of this burden so that you can sing well every time you are on stage, then this article is a must read .

To begin with, stage fright has zero at all to do with how good a singer you are. Actually more experienced performers get stage fright and some of them never really get rid of it completely. Lawerence Olivier once had to be pushed out onto the stage before his performance every night. He was one of best Actors of the 20th Century who ever lived.

Barbara Streisand had it so bad, once early in her vocation she forget lyrics to one of her songs during a performance which made her stopped performing live for 3 decades for fear of that might happen again. You see no one is immune to stage fright . It’s how can you deal with it, that’s what really matters.

Well, first you must sympathise and accept that although there is a strong psychological component involved, stage fright is a physical consideration. This means that once your body is in this mode, the old “mind over matter” is not going to get you out of it. alternatively, you have to resort to physical measures in order to deal with stage fright. You see, fear and anxiousness are actually an electrical vibration in you nervous system.

Once induced, they cause your breathing to become shallow and your blood circulation to be affected. This is the cause why your hands may begin to shake or feel sweaty or you may even begin to feel dizzy. In order to combat this, you can practice breathing deeply and make sure that your blood is circulating properly. This may not get rid of the fear altogether, but it will cut back on the physiological impact it will have on your body.

Once this is done , you can move to focusing your thoughts better . A lot of stage fright comes from putting yourself on stage in your imagination before you are actually there. A good way to deal with this is to “not be there until you are actually there” Focus on the music “not on yourself”. And most important to remember “It’s not about you!” It’s about the message you are giving. People will always respond to the message you are singing about.

So, before you go out there make sure you Practice, Practice, Practice !! Know what you are doing.. On the day of performance, you simply need to trust that you have done the best that you can do and let the chips fall where they may. This will help you to relax and let go of the need to have a perfect resultant. Singing is enjoyable, but it is also a lot of work.

Just don’t push yourself so hard to be perfect that you miss out on the fulfilment along the way. If you can   do this and to get your breathing and blood circulation under control, you are going to be GREAT when you step on stage.

Does Your Loved One Need Alzheimer’s Testing?

Many mental health experts think every older person must be tested for Alzheimer’s. Would you be better off if the disease could be identified early on, and if you and/or your relatives were tested?

Many groups now offer tests for memory problems, and look for signs of early Alzheimer’s and various types of dementia. Some MDs already routinely test people over 65, usually with lists of questions (“name as many animals as you can think of in 30 seconds,” etc). There are also exams to assist you in self-diagnosis.

So when do you look for a directory of doctors to perform the necessary exams and tests?  Perhaps this information can help.

Universal screening for Alzheimer’s is still controversial, and for manyclear reasons:

It would include many people without any memory problems. Apart from the waste of time and money, testing can lead to preoccupation, depression, and disruption of the family unit.

There is no surefire way to differentiate between mild age-related cognitive disability, which may never worsen, and early Alzheimer’s. If the exam tells you that you’re OK now but may develop dementia down the road, what can you do with that info?

Diagnostic exams for early dementia are unreliable, specifically in people under 70. Incorrect diagnoses could be horrifying. People might lose their jobs, license to drive or even possible care givers, and not be able to get medical or life insurance.

If early diagnosis leads into additional treatment with medicine, well, essentially, that’s a mixed bag. Alzheimer’s drugs are expensive, and the drugs’ benefits are limited and of brief duration. They are prescribed only for people who are previously showing obvious symptoms and signs of dementia.

Early diagnosis would help the drug companies more so than the public, according to some critics.

So where are we today?

Alzheimer’s may be the diagnosis people truly dread more than any other. The risk rises with age, and the numbers are rising. We urgently need a clearer understanding of this terrible disease and better diagnostic tools. We need preventive means, as well as beneficial treatments. Further research into Alzheimer’s testing is necessary prior to burdening patients and their already overtaxed primary-care physicians with screening tests of doubtful reliability and unclear benefits.

If you are afraid that you or a family member might be displaying symptoms of obvious memory loss or Alzheimer’s, talk about the problem with your doctor. If tests reveal no problem, you’ll breathe a sigh of relief. If you do receive a diagnosis of dementia, you can get ready for what’s to come as best as you can by beginning your search for a qualified dementia care facility and, if recommended, try the medications that are available. Insurers Have Power Over Health Care Law

As a blogger for Insurance School Florida, I’m watching the insurance fallout from  Congress’s  Health Care Reform .  Insurers feel defeated because it’s  become law  ,  however  there are areas where they can still  actively influence  the law .

There are many provisions which are straight-forward and clear such as forbidding discrimination against  youth  with pre-existing conditions.  Another straight forward  provision  is allowing children to stay on parent’s insurance until they  reach  26 years old.  (A study  found  that children who remain on their  parent’s  insurance will  increase  employer premiums by  one   percent  .  Over $3,000 for each dependent.)

But  within  the 2000 pages of the Health Care Law , there  are over   twelve-hundred  instances where the Health and Human Services Secretary can act at their discretion.  That means there are 1200 grey areas that need to be  hammered  out.  Health Insurers can influence  Washington  in those decisions.  

So for those Insurers who  believe  they lost  any  influence on the Bill, they  can now  work to shape the Law .  Insurers need to  put forward their best case on  how to provide services at the  lowest  cost without just pushing  those  costs to the employer or insurer .

Insurers shouldn’t draw a line in the sand .  They should work within the spirit of the law, instead of just  looking for  loopholes like some did when they said they could get around insuring children with pre-existing conditions, not by dropping those children, but by not issuing them a policy .

The provisions must be  fininshed  by September 23rd, so there is a lot of work to be done .  These few months will affect the Industry for decades to come .  You can make grey areas work for you .
